Best investment parents can do. Providing children the opportunity to do 4 digits addition, subtraction, multiplication, division from the age of 4, 5 years old is just incredible. And of course they'll enjoy reading! Thanks to this school I'll keep my son in Montessori as long as I can.
Our daughter is a student at Curlew Montessori School and we could not be happier with her progress! We highly recommend this school! As parents, investing in our children's future is extremely important and Curlew Montessori is a fantastic investment. Congratulations to the fantastic teachers for doing such a great job.
"Create a great foundation to build the future"
Emma started Montessori when she was 2 years old. She didn't speak English and she was very shy. After 3 and half years Emma became confident, ready to face challenges and with a handful of friends. Curlew Montessori was like a second home for Emma. She felt safe, loved, empowered to take decisions but in the same time aware that her decisions come with consequences: sometimes bad and sometimes good.
I recommend Curlew Montessori School to every family who values his child education and development.
I want to thank you for providing Alex (Sade) with a wonderful, fun and enriching camp experience!!!
He really enjoyed it and learned so much. We have noticed an improvement in his language and communication skills and social skills and he has learned to ride a tricycle! I have told you before, but I would like to repeat that I was very impressed with the school, including staff, facilities, programming and overall atmosphere of the school. I think this in a large part is due to your dedication to providing an excellent curriculum and program to the school. I hope Alex can return for future summer camps to the school and hope to enrol my other little one, Georgia, in the new year as well.
When we decided to put Layla in a Montessori program, we wanted to ensure we picked the right school. We travelled to numerous Montessori programs around Toronto to see which would be the best fit. As soon as we walked into Curlew, we were greeted with such a beautiful, bright classroom filled with children that looked so happy to be there. We appreciated the time you took to walk us through the curriculum and address our concerns around mealtimes and allergies since that was obviously a big concern of ours considering Layla's numerous food allergies.
We couldn't be happier with our decision to send Layla to Curlew. She has blossomed so much in the past 3 years. She has developed so many great skills and habits as a result of her time at Curlew along with making so many wonderful friends. We can't thank you and the teachers at Curlew enough for the care and education you have passed along to Layla. Curlew has felt like our extended family and we are sad to say good-bye. Thank you so much for keeping our daughter safe, keeping her thirst for learning alive, keeping both her body and mind active and teaching her important life skills that she can use now and in the future. We hope you will stay in touch! Thank you again for everything
Dear Raihana, Let me just say how much Sebastian changed during this year spent at your school, even though he spent only half days there: he became fluent in English, his social skills soared, he discovered with his Montessori Teacher, his love for geography, then later for reading and math. Also I thought he does not enjoy singing, until the Mother’s Day festivities, when he did sing all the songs while smiling all the way! And all that during just 2 ½ hours daily spent at your school. People who are familiar with the Montessori philosophy recognize right away that Sebi has been in a Montessori school by his independence, love for nature, practicality, and neatness. We not only liked your school when we first came to visit and discuss with you the program. We actually enjoyed seeing how much effort you and your team had put over just 1 year to add quality to your school and program. I was particularly impressed when Sebi's Teacher started to send out weekly progress notes for each and every child. That alone means so much especially when kids are at an age when they can’t tell more than “fine” when asked “What did you do at school today?”. Sebi told me the other day he misses his friends and Teacher. When we drove by the school he said “Hi my school!”. So, thank you for making a difference in our lives and wishing you the best of success with the school!
Dear Raihana, It was really a great pleasure to be able to work with you at the Curlew Montessori School and teach yoga to the students. The school environment is very bright and welcoming, with well displayed materials, and provides the children with a very happy, nurturing and stimulating environment. The children were happy and relaxed and responded well to instructions, which made working with them rewarding and fun. I found the staff members to be warm and loving and quite attentive to the students' individual needs. I was also very impressed with your administrative skills and the long hours you put in at the school, applying great dedication, research, analysis and organization to the way you prepare and run the school's programs. The children attending the school are very fortunate to have such a sincere and concerned administrator who is looking after their all-round development. Incorporating yoga and other skills that develop concentration, self-discipline and confidence to the school's curriculum adds much to the development of the children's physical, mental and moral nature. Being a yoga practitioner myself, I was particularly happy to have been given the opportunity to share this ancient science with such young children, who enjoyed the fun and benefits of exploring a range of body movements beyond those they normally use in daily life. I thank you again for the opportunity to work with you and teach yoga at the Curlew Montessori School.
Wishing you and the school much success in the coming years.
Sincerely, Edith Recht AMI Montessori Teacher
Wesley started Curlew Montessori when he was 2 years old. Curlew is a school where my son feels happy and safe. He gets up every morning and is eager to get ready for the school. The staff and administrators are nurturing, supportive and professional. They really respect and know the individual characteristics of the children and provide enriched and interesting learning opportunities for them. We appreciate the feedback about our son’s social, emotional and physical development. We know that he is well cared for while having fun at school.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
Initially, when my husband and I were looking for a childcare centre, Alex was three and Penny, just a baby. We were looking for a safe place that was close by and had a convenient aftercare program. Of course, what we ended getting was so much more!
First and foremost, the teachers are amazing! They are warm and welcoming and always speak to the children with kindness and respect. I really appreciate the time, the teachers and Ms. Raihana take during parent teacher’s meetings, to show us the work the children have done throughout the term. During “Watch Me Work”, I loved how Ms J encouraged penny to show us all that she’s learned throughout the year abd that of her work was on display for all to see! I got the sense that that the teachers and Ms Raihana were as proud of her accomplishments as I was!
Secondly, the children here get an excellent education. It’s astonishing how the teachers can tailor lessons to each child and by the third year they can be adding, subtracting, and writing and reading and even sweeping; which I learned after Alex tore up a sheet of paper at home one day and I told him to sweep it up… he surprisingly did it perfectly, as this is something her practiced at school.
When I asked Alex and Penny what they liked most about Curlew Montessori School, they both said, their friends! Because of the mixed age class they had an opportunity to learn from older classmates and be mentors to younger students. Penny would often tell me what the younger kids were learning and the milestones they met, such as, “Antonia can talk now…”. Over the years I saw my children develop close relationships with their peers and they continue to invite classmates that have already graduated from school, to their birthday parties. I know that their friends are the one thing Penny will miss most about graduating.
I am writing to give you proof that you are doing a great job. Yesterday, I was helping Camryn, my 9 year old, with her science project, and showed her a map of the world. I was stunned to find that she could not point out where South America or Africa was, let alone Europe or Asia. Kayden, my 5 year old, your student for the last 3 years, was able to do all that, and he also knew that the Middle East was between Europe and Asia, as well as where China was!
Needless to say, I knew that these differences were not because one child was brighter than the other. It had everything to do with the school and the teachers. I am eternally grateful that fate brought Kayden to Curlew, and only wished I had made better decisions with my first born.
Camryn is able to understand that these knowledge differences between herself and her little brother is not her fault. I explained to her the difference between private and public school teachers and how I wished I could afford send her to private school. As such, I will have to add one more subject for tutoring her on my own.
I just wanted you to know that I appreciate how exhausting teaching young children can be. It’s one of those jobs that if you really do a good job, you are exhausted….sort of like parenting. On top of that, you wonder if anybody out there really notices, and does it make any difference between being excellent, and mediocre? I wanted you to know that there are parents out there who do notice, value and recognize the difference. On behalf of the children, I thank you.
I have no clue where to begin, but, I must end with THANK YOU! Your vision to open Curlew Montessori is one thing that has changed my family’s lives. You have had a part in shaping the futures of each one of my children and that I am grateful. I love your school and I feel as if you are a permanent fixture in my life. Thank you for everything and I wish you, you family and Curlew Montessori School, all the best in the years to come!
